From Zimbabwe – Prof Evelyn Chiyevo Garwe is a keen researcher and practitioner with expertise and experience in quality assurance, strategic and project management. She researches around transformation and quality issues in all aspects of higher education, inclusive of: leadership and governance, research, internationalisation, gender and financing. She is also interested in the ways that inclusive education shapes the narratives regarding various stakeholders for example students, academics, vulnerable societies etc.

Mr Andrew Madoda Makola is the Director of Quality Assurance and Information Management at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. He graduated Bachelor of Business Administration from Andrews University (Michigan, USA) in 1991, Bachelor of Business & Administration Hons and Master of Business Administration from University of Stellenbosch Business School (RSA) in 2000 and 2003. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Quality Management from the Durban University of Technology (RSA).  His areas interest include transformation of higher education through the development and implementation of Quality Management Systems for the Higher Education Institutions’ support services sector, and Whole Student Experience. He is currently a doctoral candidate with the University of Bath DBA Higher Education Management

Professor Roy Ramphal

Professor Roy Ramphal is employed at the UNISA School of Business Leadership (SBL). He lectures in Operations Management, Quality Management and Research Methodology. He is also the quality assurance and enhancement manager. His previous academic employment has been with Technicon Witwatersrand and University of Johannesburg. More specifically, Roy has been involved with the quality and operations management related subjects, which are offered at Diploma, degree and post graduate levels.  He is qualified with a National Higher diploma in Chemical Engineering, a UNISA Diploma in Datametrics, a BCOM in general management, a MBA and has completed a Doctoral Study in organisational leadership. Roy conducts research in quality, operations management, standards and shared services and publishes in accredited journals as well as is a seasoned speaker at many conferences both locally and internationally including the American society for quality, Canada Society for Quality, Quality Society of India and the European Organisation for Quality. He has also authored books in operations management and quality management. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors, a senior member of the American Society for Quality, Ex-Chairman of SAATCA (Southern African Auditor and Training Certification Association over three consecutive years) and the National President and Fellow Member of SASQ (Southern African Society for Quality) over the past 20 years. He is also a certified Ethics Officer with Ethics SA. Previous to joining academia, Roy was involved in the Sugar Industry, Aluminium Industry, Tyre Industry and various Research Institutes. He has also served in many positions in Quality Assurance in Education. He is currently in the position of Academic Quality Assurance and Enhancement Management at UNISA and is trying to drive the agenda for ISO ISO21001 in Africa as he done for ISO 9001 in 1987
